At its recent meeting, the SBCTA Board of Directors approved staff’s recommendation to release a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Construction Management services on the long-awaited Highland/Redlands Regional Gap Connector Project. This step marks important progress toward delivering much-needed bicycle and pedestrian improvements in the cities of Highland and Redlands.
Among the many benefits anticipated, the project will provide a safe, direct route for Citrus Valley High School students traveling between Highland and Redlands, replacing the current two-lane roadway with no dedicated facilities. In addition, the connector will eventually link to the Santa Ana River Trail, offering regional connectivity all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
By moving forward with the RFP process, SBCTA is one step closer to ensuring safer, more sustainable travel options for students, families, and active transportation users throughout the region.
