The SBCTA Board of Directors approved a contract with Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. for the development of an Evacuation and Resilience Center Design (ERCD) Study.
Funded through a State of California Climate Adaption Planning grant, the ERCD Study will build upon SBCTA’s Emergency Evacuation Network Resilience Study by identifying up to five high-hazard areas in San Bernardino County that could benefit from dedicated Resilience Centers. These centers are envisioned as safe, powered facilities designed to support residents during climate-related events or natural disasters. In addition to proposing project locations and developing conceptual designs, the study will evaluate opportunities to strengthen the regional transportation network in support of emergency evacuations.
Jacobs Engineering was selected through a competitive process that included multiple proposals and interviews. The firm was ranked highest by the Evaluation Committee, demonstrating a strong understanding of the project’s scope and the expertise needed to deliver innovative, community-focused solutions.
This important step represents another milestone in SBCTA’s mission to improve safety, resilience, and quality of life for San Bernardino County residents. As the ERCD Study moves forward, SBCTA will continue to collaborate with local, regional, and state partners to ensure communities are better prepared for future challenges.
