Recently, along Interstate 10 in San Bernardino County, the San Bernardino Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) Program assisted its One Millionth motorist. The San Bernardino FSP Program started aiding motorists in January of 2006. Among the range of services offered throughout that time, FSP drivers have provided motorists with more than 50,000 gallons of fuel, assisted with over 90,000 accidents, and addressed 120,000 flat tires. The San Bernardino FSP Program consists of eight Beats (areas of coverage) and 15 FSP primary tow trucks that rove their assigned areas during peak commute hours to assist and provide services to stranded motorists. This service not only greatly enhances safety for the many who travel our busiest freeways, it also helps mitigate congestion issues by removing physical and visible distractions to the motoring public.
