San Bernardino County Fire Protection District Provides Update on Fire Response and Resiliency

December 17, 2025

The Board received a presentation from the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District highlighting its operational role in fire response, emergency management, and regional resiliency efforts. SBCTA and SBCOG have collaborated closely with County Fire on several major initiatives, including the Smart County Master Plan, the Emergency Evacuation Network Resilience (EENR) Study, and the newly funded Evacuation and Resilience Center Design (ERCD) Study. These partnerships support coordinated planning and strengthen the region’s ability to respond to emergencies.

During the presentation, County Fire discussed how its responsibilities extend beyond day-to-day emergency response to include broader regional considerations such as land management, wildfire prevention, and the economic and safety impacts of major corridor closures, including the Interstate 15 Cajon Pass. The agency also emphasized its growing use of emerging technologies to enhance situational awareness, streamline emergency operations, and improve safety outcomes for residents across the county.

The update provided valuable insight into how County Fire coordinates with local jurisdictions and regional partners to prepare for and respond to complex emergencies. SBCTA/SBCOG will continue to collaborate with County Fire as these studies and initiatives advance, ensuring that transportation planning and public safety strategies remain aligned to support the long-term resiliency of San Bernardino County.
