FY 2026/2027 Will See Record $1.4 Billion Budget

June 10, 2026

The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority / San Bernardino Council of Governments (SBCTA/SBCOG) Board has unanimously approved the agency’s Fiscal Year 2026/2027 Budget, marking the largest budget in the agency’s history at more than $1.4 billion. The approval follows months of detailed planning, collaboration, and review across all SBCTA policy committees, and it reflects the agency’s continued commitment to delivering transportation solutions that support mobility, economic opportunity, and quality of life throughout the region.

This year’s budget includes an estimated $1.09 billion in new revenue and approximately $364 million in carryover funds. Together, these resources support a wide range of priorities, including major highway and rail projects, express lanes operations, planning and transit programs, and long-term regional initiatives. The Board also reaffirmed expected reserves of $55.1 million and approved the FY 2026/2027 Budget Action Plan, which outlines key milestones and will guide staff work throughout the year.

With a projected ending fund balance of approximately $1 billion, the approved budget reflects both strong fiscal management and the agency’s readiness to move major transportation improvements forward. From expanding mobility options to investing in infrastructure that connects residents to jobs, services, and opportunities, the budget positions SBCTA to continue its mission of improving travel throughout San Bernardino County. The Board’s approval highlights the importance of long-term planning and teamwork across the agency as SBCTA enters another year of significant project delivery.
