The I-15 Northbound Truck Climbing Lane Extension Project will improve safety and traffic flow through the Cajon Pass by closing a gap between two existing northbound truck climbing lanes. The project includes extending the truck climbing lane approximately 3.4 miles and improving operations at the SR-138 interchange.
The project is currently in the Project Initiation Document (PID) phase. This early planning phase focuses on defining the project scope, evaluating potential improvements, and gathering public input to help inform next steps.
Community input is important during the early planning phase of the project. Feedback from people who live near or travel through the Cajon Pass helps the project team better understand local needs, identify potential concerns, and consider ideas before moving forward into future design and environmental phases.
