The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) is proud that our North First Avenue Bridge Project has received the Engineering News-Record (ENR) Southern California Best Projects Award of Merit in the Highway/Bridge category.
Opened in July 2024, the 1,179-foot bridge replaced a nearly century-old structure and now provides wider pedestrian walkways, bike-friendly shoulders, and improved access to schools, hospitals, and neighborhoods. This recognition underscores SBCTA’s mission to improve quality of life and mobility in San Bernardino County, with safety as the cornerstone of every project.
The award follows other major milestones, including the opening of the Mt. Vernon Avenue Bridge in San Bernardino and federal approval to introduce zero-emission multiple units (ZEMU) into service. Together, these achievements reflect SBCTA’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and responsible investment in the region’s future.
