Brightline West Provides Project Update to SBCTA Board

October 16, 2026

The SBCTA Board of Directors received an update on the Brightline West high-speed rail project, highlighting continued progress on construction, project development, and financing efforts for the transformative rail connection between Southern California and Las Vegas. Representatives from Brightline West shared updates on ongoing work throughout the corridor and discussed the company’s continued pursuit of federal loan financing to support project delivery.

Board members expressed enthusiasm for the project’s success and its potential benefits for San Bernardino County residents. Particular interest centered on opportunities for High Desert commuters, with discussions focused on coordinating train schedules with traditional morning and evening commute periods and exploring fare structures that complement existing Metrolink service. The future connection at Rancho Cucamonga is expected to create new mobility options for residents traveling to employment centers throughout the San Bernardino Valley and the broader Southern California region.

The project’s planned integration with Metrolink remains a key component of the regional transportation network, helping create seamless connections between local, regional, and intercity rail services. Once completed, the all-electric rail system will provide a fast, reliable travel option while supporting economic growth, regional connectivity, and expanded transportation choices for residents and visitors alike.

As the project advances, SBCTA will continue working alongside regional partners to support implementation efforts and help maximize the transportation benefits the project can bring to communities across San Bernardino County.
