June 10, 2019

Starting Monday night (June 10), crews will be closing an entire direction of the freeway and up to three lanes in the opposite direction between the hours of 8pm and 4am.

Crews will start the full closures on the northbound side of the freeway. It is expected to shift to the southbound side on Wednesday, June 12 (depending on production in the field).

Freeway traffic will be routed around the work via the off and on ramps in the direction of the full closure. Local traffic will be restricted from using the Barton Road Bridge over I-215 during hours of operation. Local detours will be signed. Plan accordingly and, if possible, avoid the construction area during these types of major events.

The Barton Road Interchange Project began construction in December 2017 and is anticipated to be complete in spring 2020. In addition to increasing the clearance and widening the bridge over the interstate, new southbound ramps and a roundabout intersection between the southbound ramps and Barton Road will be added to improve access to and from the freeway, enhance local street operations, and create a new gateway for this city located in the eastern portion of the San Bernardino Valley.
