One of the barriers to residents of San Bernardino County using rail transit is that first mile/last mile connection between the Metrolink line and destinations throughout the county. The addition of a direct connection from Metrolink to primary destinations will help bridge the gap to commuters being automobile dependent. Omnitrans recently launched two new shuttle services in our region, SB Connect and ONT Connect.
ONT Connect is a new car-free way to travel to the Ontario International Airport. You can now take Metrolink to the Cucamonga Station where you will be met by ONT Connect, a direct shuttle operated by Omnitrans and powered by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority.
ONT Connect shuttles will meet Metrolink trains or Omnitrans buses for a quick, direct connection to Ontario Airport Terminals Two and Four and will collect riders from the airport for the return trip to Cucamonga Station. The ride is free for anyone transferring from or to Metrolink or Omnitrans.
In San Bernardino, the new SB Connect shuttle service will link the San Bernardino Transit Center, which is served by Metrolink, Omnitrans, VVTA, RTA, Beaumont Transit, SunLine Transit Agency, Mountain Transit and the brand new Arrow train from Redlands, with key destinations in downtown San Bernardino.
The first/last mile shuttle will meet weekday riders at the Transit Center and shuttle to stops near the County Government Center, Superior Courts and the Department of Public Health, then return them to the transit center. Shuttles will run Monday through Friday from about 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
The OmniConnect shuttle services is funded by SBCTA and operated by Omnitrans. For more information about the service, including maps and schedules, please visit Omnitrans.org/omniconnect-shuttle-services.
