I-10/University Street Improvement Project Begins this Week

February 8, 2021

The I-10/University Street Improvement Project begins construction on Monday, February 8, 2021. Serving as the gateway for communities in eastern Redlands, the University of Redlands and Redlands High School, the project will improve traffic operations along University Street between Citrus Avenue and Central Avenue. After the impacts of the pandemic subside, it is expected that delay times experienced previously on the I-10/University Street westbound on-ramp and eastbound off-ramp, as well as on University Street between Citrus Avenue and Central Avenue, will return.

The project will widen the westbound I-10 on-ramp and the eastbound I-10 off-ramp. It will also restripe University Street from Citrus Avenue to Central Avenue. The I-10/University Street Improvement project is designed to relieve congestion, improve safety, and improve traffic flow as well as address the increased travel associated with existing and planned development in the City of Redlands. In addition, the project will upgrade pedestrian access via sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act compliant curb ramps. Be in the know before you go and download or bookmark the project’s interactive Google Map. The project-specific Google Map offers real-time closures and detours at goSBCTA.com/i10university.
