PLAN AHEAD! Construction on I-10 Express Lanes project; Here’s what you need to know about upcoming closures

October 6, 2021

Safety for the traveling public is paramount, especially when traveling within a construction zone. However, various construction activities cannot be performed with moving traffic nearby, requiring crews to close local streets, on- and off-ramps or freeway lanes to allow crews to perform necessary work.

To manage the impact to the traveling public, traffic volumes are often considered when scheduling specific construction activities and closures. Depending on the construction activity and equipment that is used, work windows may vary and include a daytime closure, nighttime closure, or multiple-hour closure, such as a continuous 55-hour closure, which typically starts at 10:00 p.m. on a Friday night and end by 5:00 a.m. the following Monday.

To accommodate the widening of the I-10 Freeway, several closures are scheduled in October* throughout the project corridor between the Los Angeles/San Bernardino County line and I-15. Motorists should plan ahead, use alternate routes, leave early, and allow extra time to reach their destination.

• The eastbound Central Avenue on-ramp is closed through Friday, October 15 at 5:00 a.m. Detour routes are posted.

  • The three right lanes of the westbound I-10 between the westbound Milliken Avenue on- and off-ramps are scheduled to be closed for 55 hours from Friday, October 8 at 10:00 p.m. through Monday, October 11 at 5:00 a.m. The westbound Milliken Avenue on- and off-ramps will also be closed. Detour routes will be posted.
  • The Campus Avenue Bridge demolition will result in the full closure of eastbound and westbound I-10 between Holt Boulevard and Euclid Avenue from 11:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16. Detour routes will be posted.
  • The three right lanes of the westbound I-10 from Milliken Avenue to Haven Avenue are scheduled to be closed for 55 hours on the following dates:
    • Friday, October 22 at 10:00 p.m. through Monday, October 25 at 5:00 a.m. The westbound Haven Avenue off-ramp will also be closed. Detour routes will be posted.
    • Friday, October 29 at 10:00 p.m. through Monday, November 1 at 5:00 a.m. The westbound Haven Avenue loop on-ramp will also be closed. Detour routes will be posted.
