Redlands Passenger Rail Project Update

February 8, 2021

Construction on the new Arrow corridor is more than 80% complete with bridge construction almost 100% complete. Throughout the 9-mile corridor, crews are working to install signals; pave and reconstruct curbs, gutters, and sidewalks; install cabling for signals; and prepare for train testing. We recently received a video of the first Arrow train at the Stadler plant in Salt Lake City enjoying a little sunshine in anticipation of its new home. Beginning Spring 2021, once the trains arrive in California, SBCTA in collaboration with Metrolink, will begin train testing. Testing will occur throughout the 9-mile corridor and continue until Arrow service begins in 2022. Both Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) and Metrolink trains will be used during testing.
